Cathryn de Prume
Teacher and Owner
My parents were both teachers. My mom ran her own preschool in our Park Slope, Brooklyn brownstone. My dad was a high school language teacher and spoke six languages. My parents believed teaching was the most noble profession. They instilled in me the value of giving back. I saw the profound effects they had on their students over the years.
As brilliant and inspiring as they were, my childhood was chaotic and unpredictable. The idea of becoming another character in a story was my burning desire as soon as I discovered there was a profession called acting. At eleven I saved up my babysitting money and enrolled myself in an acting class. That’s when my world opened up. I found a place to express myself and found my passion.
I then attended NYC’s High School of the Performing Arts. It was heaven on earth. Kids from all backgrounds from all over the city studied their art together. I cherished every day I attended. I went to school to play! I made friends for life. We bonded forever because acting does that. It connects people’s souls. I started teaching to give that back to the next generation.
